Nearly 100 Years of Experience
Lacey's Custom Jewelry got its start in a little 9' x 9' basement office in 2014. Working with one customer at a time Lacey's has built a business on outstanding customer service and high quality workmanship. With 6 employees there is almost a century of jewelry, diamond and gemstone experience in our local shop. Being Bismarck’s First Jewelry Boutique Lacey’s strives for quality service on each and every job that comes in. Custom is our specialty but we are a full service store taking in all jewelry appraisals and repairs. Lacey’s Custom Jewelry is extremely proud of the custom work they do and it would not be possible if Lacey did not keep up to date on the technology of the industry. Lacey was educated and completed her first course of Jewelry CAD in 2006. She has been designing awesome jewelry ever since. Lacey's Custom Jewelry has 3 CAD trained designers on staff. The key to great customer service is knowledge and Lacey's Custom Jewelry is the most educated store in the Bismarck-Mandan area.
Lacey Madsen, Owner
Designer, Graduate Gemologist and Accredited Jewelry Professional
Starting her jewelry career in 2004, Lacey has never looked back. Lacey's Custom Jewelry had been her dream for years before she actually opened. She started in a small basement office in her house doing private appointments and appraisals for customers the first year. The second year Lacey moved to an office building where she took private appointments only. She quickly realized as business was picking up, having a store front was necessary. October 2016 was opening day for Bismarck’s First Jewelry Boutique where they continued all the services they had done before but with better convenience for all their customers.

Karla started her love of jewelry in 1988! What began as a full-time sales job turned into a lifetime passion.
She has been taught all sides of the jewelry industry, from sales to minor jewelry repair, from learning all she could about diamonds and colored gems to CAD/CAM design training. The jewelry business became a part-time career as she raised her family. It is during this time that she began working with Lacey in 2004 as co-workers. |
Karla was one of the first people Lacey wanted to work with in her new store, she has been a incredible support and huge influencer in Lacey's Custom Jewelry.
"I would not be the person I am today without Karla's support personally or professionally. We have known each other for years and I love that she chooses to continue to work by my side. She is an extremely hard worker and I try to live up to her example everyday." – Lacey Madsen

Brandon Scherr
Jeweler
Brandon started his passion for making things with traditional welding before he ever did jewelry. Which he will tell you the transition is funny at first, because all the tools are so small.
In 2008 Brandon started working in a shop learning how to polish jewelry and help the shop jeweler with small things. He continued to learning for a few years setting stones, sizing rings, casting metal ect. He later went to GIA (Gemological Institute of America) twice to take two different jeweler/goldsmith courses. |
Custom jewelry and hand engraving are definitely his favorite jobs because get to use his creative side. Brandon has been surrounded by women his whole life (2 sisters) so working in an office of all women is just another day.
"Brandon is my favorite person to talk to in the store... It is hard to compare when you have been talking our entire lives. He is a great sport being the only man on staff and he is always making us laugh. I love working with my little bro." – Lacey Madsen
